Educational Qualification for CMAT 2027
You must hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The degree can be in any discipline — Commerce, Science, Arts, Engineering, or Law.
Minimum percentage: NTA does not specify a minimum graduation percentage for appearing in CMAT. However, many colleges that accept CMAT scores have their own minimum percentage requirement — typically 50% for General category and 45% for reserved categories. Check each college's individual eligibility before applying.
Age Limit for CMAT 2027
There is NO age limit for CMAT. This is a major advantage over CAT (no age limit either) and over some state MBA exams. Whether you are 22 or 42, you can appear for CMAT 2027. Working professionals returning to MBA are fully eligible.
Can Final Year Students Apply for CMAT 2027?
Yes. Students appearing in their final year of graduation in the academic year 2026–27 can apply for CMAT 2027 provisionally. However, admission is conditional — you must submit your final graduation marksheet meeting the college's minimum percentage requirement at the time of joining.
Important: If your final result is delayed (common in some universities), carry your provisional degree certificate or a bonafide letter from your college. Most CMAT-accepting colleges have a grace period for result submission.

Frequently Asked Questions — CMAT Eligibility 2027
Can a working professional apply for CMAT 2027?
Yes. There is no age limit and no work experience restriction for CMAT. Working professionals with a graduation degree are fully eligible. In fact, some CMAT-accepting colleges give preference to candidates with work experience during the GD-PI round.
Is there a minimum percentage required to appear for CMAT?
NTA does not require any minimum graduation percentage to register for CMAT. You can appear in the exam with any graduation percentage. However, the colleges you target may have their own cutoffs — JBIMS requires around 50% graduation marks, for example. Check each college's eligibility separately.
Can engineering students appear for CMAT?
Yes. Engineering graduates (BE/BTech) are fully eligible for CMAT. Many top CMAT colleges have a significant proportion of engineering graduates in their batch. Engineering students often find the QT section easier — but must give extra attention to General Awareness.
How many times can I appear for CMAT?
There is no attempt limit for CMAT. You can appear every year as long as you remain eligible (hold or are pursuing a graduation degree). This makes CMAT more flexible than some state-level exams that restrict the number of attempts.
Is CMAT valid for IIM admissions?
No. IIMs do not accept CMAT scores — they conduct their own Common Admission Test (CAT). CMAT is accepted by non-IIM MBA colleges including some excellent programmes like JBIMS, SIMSREE, and GIM. For IIM admission, you need to appear for CAT.
