Reading Comprehension Strategy

RC is the highest-scoring sub-section with 4 to 5 passages. Use the 4-step method: Step 1 — Skim first (60 seconds), read only the first and last sentence of each paragraph.

Step 2 — Read questions before the passage to know what you are looking for.

Step 3 — Active reading (3 to 4 minutes) noting main argument, evidence, tone, and conclusion.

Step 4 — Elimination for MCQ, eliminate 2 obviously wrong options first.

Para Jumbles — The Anchor Method

Step 1: Find the opening sentence — usually introduces a topic with no pronoun reference.

Step 2: Find the closing sentence — often a conclusion with words like thus, therefore, or finally.

Step 3: Link remaining sentences using connectors such as however, moreover, therefore, this, these.

Step 4: If stuck between two options, check tense and subject consistency.

Grammar — Most Tested Rules

Subject-Verb Agreement: The team is playing well (not are). Tense Consistency: He went and bought (not buys). Pronoun Reference: Everyone must bring his or her books. Misplaced Modifier: Running fast, he caught the ball. Parallel Structure: She likes running, swimming, and cycling.
