IIMs Offering the 5-Year IPM Program
The IPM is offered by multiple IIMs, admitted through one of three entrance tests. Seats are approximate — always confirm on each IIM's official website.
IIM | Entrance | Approx. Seats |
IIM Indore | IPMAT (Indore) | ~150 |
IIM Rohtak | IPMAT (Rohtak) | ~160 |
IIM Jammu | JIPMAT | ~45 |
IIM Bodh Gaya | JIPMAT | ~120 |
IIM Ranchi | IPMAT (Indore) score | ~120 |
Other newer IIMs (Amritsar, Sirmaur, Sambalpur) | IPMAT (Indore) score | Varies |
Route 1 — IPMAT Indore
Conducted by IIM Indore, this is the flagship IPM entrance. Your IPMAT Indore score is used for admission to IIM Indore's IPM, and is also accepted by several newer IIMs (such as Ranchi, Amritsar, Sirmaur and Sambalpur) for their 5-year programmes. IIM Indore's IPM is the oldest and most sought-after, which makes it the most competitive.
Route 2 — IPMAT Rohtak
Conducted by IIM Rohtak for its own 5-year IPM. It is a separate exam with a separate application, usually held in May like IPMAT Indore. Many aspirants appear for both Indore and Rohtak to maximise their chances.
Route 3 — JIPMAT (IIM Jammu & IIM Bodh Gaya)
JIPMAT (Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test), conducted by the NTA, is the entrance for the IPM at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. If you are already preparing for IPMAT Indore, you are most of the way prepared for JIPMAT too — just add Data Interpretation and basic Logical Reasoning practice.
Which IPMAT College Should You Target?
Target IIM Indore if you want the most established IPM and the strongest brand — expect the highest competition.
Add IIM Rohtak (IPMAT-R) as a strong second attempt in the same season.
Appear for JIPMAT to open IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya with little extra preparation.
A single strong IPMAT Indore score can also put the newer IIMs within reach.
Confirm your IPMAT eligibility, study the full IPMAT syllabus, and use our IPMAT 2027 complete guide to plan your preparation across all three routes.
